Belly Dance classes for Summer 2008:

How to enroll:
1. Choose which level, day and time works best for you. If you are not sure which level is appropriate, email Lilla with questions.

2. After verifying space availability by email or phone, you may download and print this Class Registration Form. Fill the form out completely, and mail with your payment to the address at the top of the form within three days of verifying class space to reserve your space in class. You may confirm your enrollment by email.

– If you have not mailed enrollment within three days of verifying space availability, please check again before mailing to see if there is still space in the class.

– Please verify that the dates of the class series will work for you before you enroll. Class credit cannot be given for missed classes. Make up classes must be taken before the end of the session.

Level I Bellydance
Six-week series for beginners and continuing beginners
Cost: $72/ six class series – 1-hour class length
Sundays 4:00– 5:00 pm – taught by Janelle Bel Isle
Sundays 5:15 – 6:15 pm – taught by Lilla Varese
June 22 and 29, and July 6, 13, 20 and 27
OR
Thursdays 7:30 – 8:30 pm – taught by Lilla Varese
June 26 and July 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31
The six-week level 1 series is suitable for new beginners as well as continuing beginning level students or anyone who wants to reinforce the basics. The classes will focus on learning the basic movements of belly dance, and you will either learn simple step combinations or a short choreography. Level I is designed to be repeated for approximately six months to two years before progressing to Level II, though some students may progress faster due to prior dance training.
Level II Bellydance
advanced beginners thru intermediate
$80/ six-class series – 1 hour and 15 min. class length
Tuesdays 7:45 – 9:00 pm – taught by Lilla Varese
June 24 and July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29
Suitable for continuing beginners thru intermediate level dancers – students must have taken at least one bellydance series before, with Lilla or another instructor. (Generally more than one Level 1 series is helpful before moving to Level II, but ask Lilla for a recommendation).

Level II moves at a faster pace than Level I, and builds upon the skills that students have already begun to develop in Level I, with introduction to the more advanced movements and skills. Often the same choreography is taught as in Level I, but with added complexity. May include introduction to finger cymbals.
Level II and III Bellydance
intermediate/advanced repertory
$80/per six-class series – 1 hour and 15 min. class length
Wednesdays 7:15 – 8:30 pm – taught by Lilla Varese
June 25 and July 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30
This series is a combination class for intermediate and advanced students, and requires instructor's permission for first time enrollment. New students with prior belly dance training are welcome to join in. The focus is on more advanced movements, layering, improvisation, and stage presentation, with a heavy emphasis on learning choreographies for performance. Students may take the class without participating in student performances if desired. Recital and performance opportunities take place on a regular basis.


CLASS SIZES ARE LIMITED: PRE-ENROLLMENT IS REQUIRED TO RESERVE YOUR SPACE IN CLASS!
What to Wear:
dancewear or yoga wear, plus a hip scarf, shawl or coin belt for your hips. You may also purchase hipscarves, finger cymbals, and other items, in class.
